The world famous Apollo Theater will hold open auditions for Apollo Amateur Night, the world's original amateur competition and Showtime at the Apollo , the popular television program, in selected cities during July and August 2007.
This audition is open to singers, dancers, comedians and musicians of all ages and musical styles. Artists are encouraged to arrive early as auditions are on a "first come, first seen" basis and only the first 300 acts per venue will be seen.
Here's the rundown of the audition rules:
• Each contestant will have up to 90 seconds to audition
• Contestants should arrive early as auditions are on a "first come, first seen" basis.
• Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
• Singers can bring a track or sing a cappella. A band is not available.
• Musicians should bring their own instruments.
• Dancers should bring a cassette or CD for their performance.
• All auditions should be in good taste and with no profanity.

These auditions are specifically for Showtime at the Apollo televison tapings scheduled for September 24, 2007 at the Apollo Theater in New York City. Contestants who are chosen for any of these Showtime taping dates are responsible for their own accommodations and transportation to and from the Apollo Theater. If chosen, selected participants will receive further information following their audition.
